Kim Engelstad MSc, JBA – Associate

Career: Kim is an experienced marketing communications professional who brings a strong background in bid writing and bid management for architecture and interior design. Across nearly 15 years of experience, she has written and coordinated bids for significant projects up to $1bn (£700m). She also offers an academic background in urban planning, rounding out a broad understanding of the intersections of policy, urban and town development, and the built environment.

Bid highlights: Among Kim’s favourite wins are a 600,000 SF high-rise biomedical research building for Northwestern University in Chicago, won after an eight-month multi-stage design competition, and a multi-million-dollar healthcare campus transformation project at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, IL, USA.

Interests: Kim is an avid traveller – favourite destinations include South Korea, Norway, Malta and Greece. When she’s not working or travelling, she tries to spend as much time as possible going for hikes in the countryside, cooking, baking, reading, and listening to music.

Social value: Kim most recently served as an Associate Board member for Green Star Movement, a small non-profit that engages schools and communities to create public art in Chicago. She has also volunteered for Slow Food Chicago and the Centre on Halsted, an LGBT support organisation in Chicago.
